MLB: Minnesota 10, Kansas City 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Minnesota bombed the Kansas City Royals 10-3 Sunday, blowing the game open with an eight-run, seventh-inning rally that featured two Michael Cuddyer home runs.

Cuddyer ripped a leadoff homer to begin the rally and added a two-run shot later in the inning.

Denard Span contributed a three-run triple and Joe Mauer singled in a run for the Twins, who swept a three-game series and have won five of six.

Winning pitcher Carl Pavano (11-9) allowed two runs and eight hits in seven innings.

Kansas City starter Brian Bannister (7-10) took the loss, giving up four runs and six hits before leaving in the seventh.

Mike Jacobs drove in two runs for the Royals.
