CLEVELAND, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Cleveland's Jhonny Peralta homered, singled in a run and scored twice Sunday in a 6-1 Indians win over the Seattle Mariners.
The Indians broke the game open with four runs in the sixth inning. Luis Valbuena, Matt LaPorta and Andy Marte each hit an RBI single and Wyatt Toregas sent home another run during the rally.
Peralta, who drove in a run with a single in the first inning, and Seattle's Ken Griffey Jr. each smacked a leadoff homer in the fourth.
Winning pitcher Fausto Carmona (3-8) yielded a run and five hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings.
Loser Felix Hernandez (12-5) surrendered six runs and nine hits in six innings.
