VALENCIA, Spain, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Rubens Barrichello won Sunday's Formula One European Grand Prix at Valencia, Spain, his first victory in five years.
The Brawn GP driver took advantage of a costly mistake by the crew of pole sitter Lewis Hamilton.
The native of Sao Paulo, Brazil is 37 years old, making him the oldest F1 driver currently.
He took the lead when Hamilton was delayed during his final pit stop.
Hamilton's McLaren pit crew was not properly prepared for a tire change and the defending F1 champion trailed Barrichello the remainder of the 57-lap race.
"It has been a weekend that I will never forget especially after five years," Barrichello said at a news conference after his first win since the 2004 Chinese Grand Prix when he drove for Ferrari.
Hamilton finished second followed by Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari), Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren) and Nico Rosberg (Williams).
