WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Galaxy and D.C. United played to a scoreless Major League Soccer tie Saturday in the rain-soaked nation's capital.

The Galaxy failed to score despite the return of star midfielder David Beckham, who served a one-game suspension for a red card in a recent 2-0 home loss to the Seattle Sounders.

His first MLS game was Aug. 9, 2007, in Washington.

The Galaxy (8-4-11) are 4

2 in their last six matches on the road, where they lead the Western Conference with 18 goals.

United (6-5-11) luckily escaped damage when the club received a late caution card on Rodney Wallace for unsporting behavior in the 69th minute.

They out-shot Los Angeles 13-10, but finished with their 11th tie this season.
