ZANVOORT, Netherlands, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Defending champion Darren Clarke shot 3-under-par 67 Friday to tie Peter Hedblom for the 36-hole lead at the KLM Open golf tournament at Zanvoort, Netherlands.
They supplanted first-round co-leaders Garry Orr and Paul McGinley. Their 36-hole total at 8-under 132 leads five golfers -- Bradley Dredge (67), Kenneth Ferrie (67), Peter Lawrie (67), Wade Ormsby (67) and Oskar Henningson (66) -- by one stroke.
Clarke's round was dampened by bogeys at the first, fifth and ninth holes.
Hedblom blew a chance to be the sole leader after bogeying the final two holes.
"It's one of my favorite venues," Clarke said about the Kennemer course at Zanvoort. "It sets up well for me and it's always nice to come back to a place where you've done well."
"When you're struggling, it's nice to get away from everything," Hedblom said after ending a three-week break.
