ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Veteran point guard Jason Williams has signed a one-year contract with the NBA's Orlando Magic, ending a brief hiatus, ESPN said.
No dollar figure was disclosed, but the network said the deal is believed to be worth $1.3 million, the league's minimum salary for a veteran player.
Williams, 33, signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers in August 2008, but missed the entire season when his wife faced complications while pregnant with their third child.
He chose to return in a backup role with Orlando, behind all-star Jameer Nelson.
"You couldn't paint a better picture," Williams told ESPN.
"Jason is a veteran point guard that knows what it takes to help us reach our ultimate goal," Orlando general manager Otis Smith said.
In 10 seasons, Williams has averaged 11.4 points and 6.3 assists in 679 games.
