GREENSBORO, N.C., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Chez Reavie, Brandt Snedeker and Ryan Moore shared the lead Thursday when play was suspended in the first round of the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
The final tournament before the start of the FedEx Cup playoffs was halted for four hours by heavy rains that swept over the Sedgefield Country Club. None of the afternoon starters were able to complete play before darkness forced a halt to the action.
Reavie, Snedeker and Moore all shot a 6-under 64, one shot better than Justin Rose, Kevin Streelman and Colt Knost.
Among those still on the course when night fell, the one closest to the lead was Chris Riley. He was at 5-under with four holes to play.
The top 125 players on the FedEx Cup points list at the end of this week will qualify for next week's tournament -- The Barclays. That will be the first of four events that make up the PGA Tour playoffs.
Of the three co-leaders, Reavie is in the biggest need of a good week. He went into this tournament in 177th place on the points list.
Reavie was playing his final hole when the storms moved in and had only a one-foot putt left for par when the horn sounded. He had to wait four hours before coming back out to make the putt.
Among those in with a 66 were Fred Couples and John Daly. Couples will captain this year's U.S. Presidents Cup team. Daly withdrew from last week's PGA Championship.
