
DETROIT, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Clete Thomas hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth Thursday, boosting Detroit to a 7-6 win over Seattle.
His second hit came shortly after a sacrifice fly by Brandon Inge created a 6-6 tie with one out in the bottom of the ninth.
Inge also hit a solo homer.
One of three hits by Ryan Raburn was a solo homer.
Alex Avila drove in two runs, Aubrey Huff one, while Miguel Cabrera added two hits for the Tigers, who trailed by four runs twice and have won four of six.
The winner was Bobby Seay (4-2).
Jose Lopez, Kenji Johjima, Mike Sweeney and Russell Branyan all homered, with Lopez hitting a two-run shot in the third for the Mariners, who managed just five hits and have lost five of seven.
The losing pitcher was closer David Aardsma (3-5).
