BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Landon Donovan, coming off a case of the swine flu, played the entire game Wednesday and scored a goal to lead Los Angeles past Chicago 2-0.

The Galaxy moved into second place in the Western Conference with their fifth victory in eight games.

Chicago has lost two out of three, but remains in second place in the East.

Chicago played without all-star defender Bakary Soumare, who was reportedly involved in an incident with Coach Denis Hamlett prior to the game.

Mike Magee put Los Angeles in front in the 23rd minute, shaking a defender and firing a shot past goalkeeper Jon Busch. It was Magee's second goal of the season.

Donovan's goal came in the 55th minute off a perfect pass from Magee. Donovan has scored 94 MLS goals in 200 league matches.
