CINCINNATI, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Barry Zito and three relievers combined to throw a two-hit shutout Wednesday, bringing the San Francisco Giants a 1-0 victory over Cincinnati.

The Giants remained a game behind Colorado in the National League wild-card race. Cincinnati, fighting to stay out of last place in the NL Central, lost its fifth straight.

Zito gave up two hits and walked one over six innings, but did not figure in the decision.

San Francisco's run did not come until the eighth, when Edgar Renteria delivered a one-out single off Cincinnati starter Bronson Arroyo (11-12) and scored on a double to center by Nate Schierholtz.

Relievers Sergio Romo, Jeremy Affeldt and Brian Wilson teamed to retire all nine men they faced.

Romo (4-2) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of work. Wilson earned his 30th save.
