LOS ANGELES, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers placed pitcher Hiroki Kuroda on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, four days after he was the victim of a line drive to the head.

Although Kuroda was discharged from a hospital the day after the incident, he has continued to suffer from headaches, the team said.

To replace Kuroda on the roster, the Dodgers signed free agent pitcher Vicente Padilla, who was released by Texas this week.

Padilla is in the final year of a three-year contract worth close to $34 million. He was 8-6 with the Rangers in 18 starts this year and had a 4.92 ERA.

Kuroda has started 15 games this season, compiling a 5-5 record and a 4.08 ERA.
