PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Jamie Moyer pitched six shutout relief innings Tuesday to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Moyer (11-9), who complained about being removed from the starting rotation when he was replaced by Pedro Martinez, took over in long relief of Martinez Tuesday. He allowed only two hits and did not issue a walk.
Martinez started and allowed one run on two hits over three innings, but was lifted after a 66-minute rain delay.
Carlos Ruiz and Jayson Werth both homered and drove in two runs for the Phillies, who maintained their 4 1/2 game lead atop the NL East and won for the sixth time in their last seven games.
Stephen Drew led off the game with a homer to account for Arizona's only run.
Diamondbacks' starter Jon Garland (6-11) took the loss, allowing five runs on 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings with two walks and three strikeouts.
