MLB: New York Mets 9, Atlanta 4

NEW YORK, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Gary Sheffield and Luis Castillo each had three hits and two RBI Tuesday and the New York Mets had eight runs in the fourth inning of a 9-4 win over Atlanta.

Jeff Francoeur was 3-for-5 including an RBI double in the fourth, when New York tied a season-high for runs in an inning.

New York's Oliver Perez (3-3) gave up four runs on five hits in five innings. It was his first victory in his last seven starts.

Braves' starter Derek Lowe (12-8) came in sporting a 5-0 record in his last seven starts but gave up eight runs and 11 hits in just 3 2/3 innings.

Matt Diaz hit a three-run homer and Adam LaRoche a solo homer for the Braves.
