San Diego Padres vs St. Louis Cardinals

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Colby Rasmus's two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday carried the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-5 win over the San Diego Padres.

Rasmus homered after Yadier Molina's RBI single off closer Heath Bell (4-2) earlier in the inning tied the score. Bell had come in to preserve a 5-4 San Diego lead.

Molina went 2-for-2 and reached base in all five of his at-bats in a game delayed twice by rain for a total of 2 hours, 19 minutes. His single off Bell in the ninth brought Ryan Ludwick in with the tying run and set the stage for Rasmus's game-winning blast into the nearly empty stands.

Adrian Gonzalez hit his 32nd home run of the season leading off the Padres' fourth inning.

Trever Miller (4-0) pitched the ninth for St. Louis to get the win in relief of Kyle Lohse, who lasted 5 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on nine hits.
