MLB: New York Mets 3, San Francisco 2

NEW YORK, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Daniel Murphy's ninth-inning single scored Jeff Francoeur from second base Sunday, handing the New York Mets a 3-2 win over the San Francisco Giants.

Luis Castillo accounted for the other Mets' runs with a two-run home run.

Francisco Rodriguez (3-4) struck out the side in the ninth and picked up the win after starter Mike Pelfrey had allowed two runs and five hits in 7 1/3 innings

Eugenio Velez singled in one run and scored another for the Giants.

Reliever Sergio Romo (3-2) took the loss.
