BALTIMORE, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim scored nine runs in the 13th inning of their 17-8 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Juan Rivera's three-run homer off losing pitcher Brian Bass (6-5) was the big blow in the extra-inning outburst that also included a two-run single by Erick Aybar.
Jason Bulger (6-1) picked up the win with two scoreless innings in relief of Sean O'Sullivan, who was tagged for six runs in four-plus innings. Bulger struck the side out looking in the bottom of the 13th.
Baltimore lost for the sixth time in their last eight games despite two-run homers by Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis and a solo hot by Luke Scott.
Los Angeles led by two in the seventh but the Orioles came back with a run in their end of the inning and then tied it 8-8 in the ninth when Roberts doubled and then scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Adam Jones.
