MIAMI, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Chris Coghlan and Hanley Ramirez homered for the Marlins Sunday in Florida's 10-3 victory over Colorado in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Rockies won the second game 7-3.
Coghlan went 3-for-5 and had a three run homer that keyed a five-run second inning for the Marlins, who banged out 17 hits and scored six or more runs for the eighth consecutive game.
The win also pulled Florida to within a game of Colorado in the National League wild-card race.
Carlos Gonzalez went 2-for-4 for Colorado, but starting pitcher Aaron Cook (10-5) was roughed up for seven runs on eight hits and three walks in 2/23 innings and was hung with the loss.
Chris Volstad (9-9) got the win allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts in five-plus innings. Volstad also drove in a pair of runs in the second with a bases-loaded single that preceded Coghlan's homer.
Ramirez hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first to tie the game after Gonzalez had homered to give Colorado a 1-0 lead.
