MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Shin-Soo Choo and Grady Sizemore touched off a 13-hit attack with early solo homers Saturday as Cleveland halted a three-game skid by downing Minnesota 7-3.
Minnesota was unable to build on a two-hit shutout thrown by Scott Baker Friday. The Twins, who have lost seven of their last 10 games, fell 3 1/2 games behind second-place Chicago in the American League Central.
Choo hit his homer in the second, and Sizemore added his in the third before Choo contributed a sacrifice fly.
Cleveland broke the game open with a four-run fifth that included RBI singles from Asdrubal Cabrera, Travis Hafner and Wyatt Toregas.
David Huff (7-6) gave up nine hits, but only two runs in five innings to get the win.
Anthony Swarzak (3-6) surrendered five runs on eight hits in four innings to suffer the loss.
