CHICAGO, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Tom Gorzelanny allowed a run over five innings against his former team Saturday and the Chicago Cubs held off Pittsburgh 3-1.

Gorzelanny pitched in a Chicago uniform at Wrigley Field for the first time and limited the Pirates to three hits. He struck out eight, one away from his career best, and also had an RBI single.

Pittsburgh traded Gorzelanny to the Cubs July 30 after he had spent parts of five seasons with the Pirates.

Angel Guzman and Carlos Marmol combined to work three scoreless relief innings and Kevin Gregg came on in the ninth to collect his 23rd save.

Jeff Baker drove in two of Chicago's runs with a single in the first and his second homer of the year in the sixth.

Gorzelanny had the ninth RBI of his career when he singled in Geovany Soto in the second.

The loss went to Zach Duke (9-11), who allowed three runs on nine hits in 7 1/3. The Pirates have lost 12 of their last 13 games.
