BALTIMORE, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Joe Flacco directed two early scoring drives Thursday and backup Troy Smith threw a touchdown pass, boosting the Ravens a 23-0 preseason win over Washington.
Flacco completed 9-of-15 passes for 103 yards in his only two series of the games. Both ended with field goals by Steve Hauschka.
Smith, in his third year out of Ohio State, tossed a 19-yard scoring pass to Justin Harper in the second period for a 13-0 lead.
The Ravens won five of their last six regular-season games in 2008 and eventually reached the AFC title contest before losing to eventual Super Bowl champ Pittsburgh. Washington has missed the playoffs each of the last three years.
Washington starting quarterback Jason Campbell played two series, completing 3-of-6 passes for 38 yards.
The Redskins had 11 possessions in the game and they ended with nine punts, an interception and a fumble.
