DENVER, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Ubaldo Jimenez allowed three hits and struck out six over eight innings Wednesday, helping the Colorado Rockies to an 8-0 blanking of Pittsburgh.

Jimenez (10-9) threw 119 pitches, trimmed his ERA to 3.47 and helped the Rockies stay a game in front of San Francisco in the race for the National League wild-card spot.

Carlos Gonzalez hit a two-run homer in the first, Brad Hawpe had a two-run double in the sixth and a double by Chris Iannetta in the eighth delivered two more runs.

Kevin Hart (3-2) suffered the loss, giving up five runs on eight hits in 5 1/3.

Colorado downed the Pirates for the fifth time in eight meetings this year, including a three-game home sweep in June.
