Chicago boxer dies in first title fight

ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Gary Mathews and Howie Kendrick clubbed three-run home runs Wednesday, powering the Los Angeles Angels past the Tampa Bay Rays 10-5.
Mathews hit a shot to right-field in the sixth inning and Kendrick's blast to left came during a five-run seventh.
Mike Napoli, Kendry Morales and Chone Figgins each drove in a run in the Angels' fourth win in five games.
Jason Bulger (5-1) recorded two outs in relief of rookie Trevor Bell in the sixth and got the win.
Carlos Pena produced two home runs and three RBI and Pat Burrell hit a homer for the Rays.
Grant Balfour (4-2) was the loser in relief.
