MLB: Baltimore 3, Oakland 2

BALTIMORE, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Brian Roberts had three hits and an RBI Tuesday to lead the Baltimore Orioles to a 3-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

Adam Jones and Melvin Mora drove in the other runs for the Orioles, who beat the Athletics for the first time in their last 10 meetings.

Winning pitcher David Hernandez (4-4) allowed two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out six in 6 2/3 innings. Jim Johnson earned the save.

Losing pitcher Trevor Cahill (6-12) gave up three runs and eight hits over seven innings for his seventh loss in his last eight decisions. Scott Hairston and Adam Kennedy homered for the Athletics, who had won six of their previous eight games.
