LEXINGTON, Ohio, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Scott Dixon easily won Sunday's Honda Indy 200 in Lexington, Ohio, and established an IRL record with his 20th career victory.
Dixon, driving his Dallara Honda, passed Justin Wilson at the race's mid-point, benefited from a quick pit stop, and was dominant late on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Wilson trailed Dixon by six seconds but ran out of fuel while coasting for his final stop along pit road.
Dixon overcame Sam Hornish Jr. for most career victories in the IndyCar Series.
"Obviously it's a fantastic milestone for myself and obviously for the team," the reigning IRL champion told reporters. "I've achieved all of those wins with Target. Without them, it wouldn't have been possible."
Ryan Briscoe was second, Dixon's Chip Ganassi Racing teammate, Dario Franchitti, finished third, followed by Ryan Hunter-Reay in fourth and Hideki Mutoh completed the top-five finishers.
