MLB: LA Angels 3, Texas 2

ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Jered Weaver pitched 7 1/3 strong innings Saturday to help the Los Angeles Angels take a 3-2 victory from the Texas Rangers.

Weaver (12-3) won his fifth straight decision. He gave up two runs on five hits with a walk and tied his career high with 11 strikeouts.

Erick Aybar hit a go-ahead solo home run in the seventh. Vladimir Guerrero also hit a solo homer and scored twice for the Angels.

Hank Blalock hit a two-run home run for the Rangers, who have lost four of their last six games. LA starter Kevin Millwood lasted six innings and was charged with two runs on nine hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Eddie Guardado (1-2) suffered the loss.
