
HOUSTON, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Freddy Sanchez homered, Aaron Rowand had three RBI and Jonathan Sanchez went seven-plus innings Tuesday in the San Francisco Giants' 8-1 win over Houston.
Sanchez (5-9) held the Astros scoreless on four hits with three walks and eight strikeouts for the Giants, who won for the seventh time in their last eight games.
Eugenio Velez had three hits, one RBI and one run scored, Pablo Sandoval hit a solo homer and scored twice and Bengie Molina had three of the Giants' 16 hits while driving in two runs. Randy Winn had two hits and scored twice for San Francisco.
Felipe Paulino (2-6) allowed five runs on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss for Houston, which had a two-game winning streak snapped.
Chris Coste drove in a run for the Astros.
