Chiefs pick up WR Toomer

RIVER FALLS, Wis., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Free-agent wide receiver Amani Toomer, who played his first 13 NFL seasons for the New York Giants, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs Tuesday.

Last year, Toomer, 34, had his worst production in a decade, making 48 receptions for 580 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games. He started 12 of the games.

So far in his pro career, he has 668 catches for 9,497 yards and 54 touchdowns in 190 games. He posted a career-high 82 catches and 1,343 yards in 2002.

The New York Post reported Toomer was given a one-year deal but terms were not disclosed.
