DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Karrie Webb's runner-up finish at the Women's British Open was worth an improvement of two spots in the Top 10 of the latest world golf rankings.
Webb finished three strokes behind Catriona Matthew for the British Open title but still went from ninth to seventh in rankings released Monday. Matthew saw her ranking jump 50 places to 14th.
Webb's move and the resulting drop of one spot each by Angela Stanford and Kim In-kyung were the only changes this week in the women's Top 10.
Lorena Ochoa has a strong hold on the No. 1 spot in the women's rankings with Yaniu Tseng in second, just ahead of No. 3-ranked Cristie Kerr and Jiyai Shin. Kerr and Shin tied for eighth at the British Open.
Paula Creamer remained ranked No. 5 but tightened the gap with Shin with a third-place finish last week and Suzann Pettersen held onto the sixth spot despite missing the British Open cut.
After Webb are Stanford and Kim, in eighth and ninth respectively. Helen Alfredsson remains ranked 10th.
