Bengals TE has season-ending surgery

GEORGETOWN, Ky., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Cincinnati Bengals tight end Reggie Kelly suffered a season-ending Achilles' tendon injury Monday in practice, the team said.

Kelly, 32, will have surgery Wednesday and recovery from that type of injury usually takes six months.

Kelly, who was scheduled to be Cincinnati's starting tight end, had 31 catches for 207 yards last season. It was his sixth season with the Bengals after starting his career with Atlanta in 1999.

Kelly, who missed only eight games in his previous 10 seasons, has 184 receptions for 1,718 yards and five touchdowns in his career.
