MANKATO, Minn., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Vikings have signed their top draft pick, Florida receiver-running back Percy Harvin, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Sunday.
Harvin's agent, Joel Segal, told the newspaper the player signed a five-year contract, but no dollar figure was released.
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound Harvin, who excelled in both positions for the national champion Gators, missed the first two days (four practices) of Minnesota's training camp at Mankato, Minn.
"It will be up to him to catch up," Coach Brad Childress said late Saturday.
"He's ready to focus on football," Segal said.
Harvin's character was questioned by a number of teams when reports surfaced about him testing positive for marijuana at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
In three seasons with the Gators, he set school career records for wide receivers with 32 touchdowns (19 rushing, 13 receiving) and 1,852 career rushing yards.
