Odesnik, Gulbis 1st-round winners in D.C.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- American Wayne Odesnik came from behind to win a first-round match Sunday in the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington.

Odesnik eliminated Chilean Paul Capdeville, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at the Fitzgerald Tennis Center and will next play Russian Igor Andreev.

Another opening-round winner was Latvian Ernests Gulbis, who also needed three sets to get by American Kevin Kim. Gulbis won 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 and will go against Czech Tomas Berdych in the next round.
