COMMERCE CITY, Colo., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Chad Marshall's first-half goal accounted for the all the scoring Saturday in the Columbus Crew's 1-0 Major League Soccer win over Colorado.

Marshall scored in the 39th minute on a free kick, putting his third goal of the season past Rapids goalie Matt Pickens.

The win kept the Crew (8-3-9) in first place in the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of the Chicago Fire, which beat Real Salt Lake 1-0 Saturday.

Colorado (7-6-6) is tied with Chivas USA for fourth in the West, eight points behind first-place Houston.
