OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Toronto's Alex Rios hit a three-run double and Aaron Hill whacked a two-run homer in the first inning Sunday and the Blue Jays went on to beat Oakland 7-2.

The early outburst gave Jays starter Ricky Romero (10-4) a 5-0 lead before he took the mound. The left-handed rookie worked seven innings, allowing two runs and eight hits, winning for the seventh time in his last nine appearances.

Rod Barajas added a solo home run and Adam Lind drove in a run for Toronto.

Mark Ellis and Kurt Suzuki each had an RBI for Oakland.

A's starter Vin Mazzaro (2-8), also a rookie, took the loss, giving up seven runs and 10 hits in five innings. Mazzaro has lost eight of his last 10 starts.
