CHICAGO, July 30 (UPI) -- The Pittsburgh Pirates continued their fire sale Thursday by trading southpaws Tom Gorzelanny and John Grabow to the Chicago Cubs for three young prospects.
The players sent to Pittsburgh were pitchers Kevin Hart and Jose Ascanio and infielder Josh Harrison.
Hart, 26, a right-hander, was the winning pitcher Thursday in Chicago's 12-3 rout of the Houston Astros and is 3-1 in only 27 2/3 innings (four starts) with a 2.60 ERA.
"We are pleased to add Kevin to our organization," Pittsburgh General Manager Neal Huntington said. "He … has the size and makeup to be a solid major league starter.
Gorzelanny, 27, a former starter, was 3-1 in a reliever's role and has a 25-26 career record.
Grabow, 30, is 20-15 lifetime, but 3-0 this season with a 3.42 ERA in 47 1/3 innings.
The Pirates also have dealt right hander Ian Snell, shortstop Jack Wilson and second baseman Freddy Sanchez this week before Friday's trading deadline.
