ISTANBUL, Turkey, July 29 (UPI) -- Fourth-seeded Aravane Rezai, the highest seed in action Wednesday, became a second-round upset victim at the Istanbul Cup.
Rezai was eliminated by Marta Domachowska 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in the hardcourt event. No. 5 seed Vera Dushevina advanced with a 6-0, 6-1 blasting of Maria Elena Camerin.
In the only other two matches contested Wednesday, No. 7 seed Olga Govortsova survived against Angelique Kerber 6-4, 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, and Timea Bacsinszky advanced when Mariya Koryttseva had to retire with an elbow injury. Bacsinszky had a 4-1 lead in the third set when play was halted.
