BOSTON, July 29 (UPI) -- Adam Kennedy had five hits Tuesday, including the game-winner in Oakland's 9-8 win over Boston in 11 innings at Fenway Park.
Kennedy went 5-for-7 to lead the 21-hit Oakland attack, including an RBI single in a two-run 11th that resulted in Jonathan Papelbon's third blown save of the season.
Rajai Davis drove in two runs for the Athletics and Mark Ellis scored four times.
Ellis opened the 11th with a one-out double and scored on a Davis single to break a 7-7 tie. After Takashi Saito came on in relief of Manny Delcarmen (2-2), Davis stole second and came home on Kennedy's base hit.
The Red Sox picked up a run in the bottom of the 11th, but Andrew Bailey retired the side for his 12th save and preserve the win for Craig Breslow, who came out of the bullpen to pitch a scoreless 10th.
Boston scored five runs in the third for a 5-2 lead. Kevin Youklis, who had three hits in the game, drove in two runs with a double.
Trailing 7-4, the A's forced extra innings with three runs in the top of the ninth with the help of two throwing errors by shortstop Nick Green.
