Tommie Harris' wife dies

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 28 (UPI) -- Elvis Andrus went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, three runs scored and two RBI Tuesday to lead the Texas Rangers to a 7-3 victory over Detroit.
Ian Kinsler drove in three runs and scored once for the Rangers. Michael Young and Josh Hamilton each had an RBI for Texas, which has won eight of its last nine games.
Texas Starter Doug Mathis lasted just four innings, allowing three runs on six hits. Jason Grilli (1-2) pitched two hitless innings of relief to earn the win.
Dusty Ryan had a two-run single for the Tigers, who have lost three consecutive games. Ramon Santiago drove in Detroit's other run.
Losing pitcher Lucas French (1-2) gave up six runs on eight hits in five innings.
