Rezai, Govortsova win Istanbul openers

ISTANBUL, Turkey, July 27 (UPI) -- Fourth-seeded Frenchwoman Aravane Rezai and seventh-seeded Belarusian Olga Govortsova were first-round winners Monday at the Istanbul Cup.

Rezai defeated Ukrainian Viktoriya Kutuzova 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. Govortsova beat Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

Wild card Turk Pemra Ozgen beat Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2.

Also, Swiss Timea Bacsinszky beat Slovenian Polona Hercog 6-2, 6-2; Italian Maria Elena Camerin beat Turk Ipek Senoglu 6-0, 6-2; and Poland's Marta Domachowska beat Austrian Patricia Mayr 1-6, 6-2, 6-0.
