Levine, Kendrick advance in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, July 27 (UPI) -- Americans Jesse Levine and Robert Kendrick were first-round winners Monday at the $700,000 LA Tennis Open.

Levine, a former University of Florida star, defeated fellow American Bobby Reynolds 6-2, 6-3. Kendrick defeated fellow American Vincent Spadea 6-0, 6-0 in just 36 minutes, eight seconds.

Australian Chris Guccione beat American Kevin Kim 6-1, 6-4.

Argentine Juan Martin del Potro beat American Andy Roddick in last year's LA finale, but neither man is competing here this year.
