First baseman Garko from Indians to Giants

SAN FRANCISCO, July 27 (UPI) -- The San Francisco Giants got first baseman Ryan Garko from the Cleveland Indians Monday for minor league pitcher Scott Barnes.

Garko, 28, is hitting .285 with 11 homers and 39 RBI in 78 games this season. He was a third-round draft pick by the Indians in 2003. He's a career .283 hitter with 53 homers and 235 RBI.

Barnes, 21, is 12-3 with a 2.85 ERA in 18 starts for Single-A San Jose in the California League.
