Safina takes third title of 2009

PORTOROZ, Slovenia, July 26 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Dinara Safina of Russia won the Slovenia Open Sunday, defeating Sara Errani of Italy for her third WTA title of 2009.

Safina battled to a 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 7-5 victory over the fifth-seeded Errani in a match that lasted nearly 3 hours.

The win was Safina's 12th on the tour.

Errani also was the runner-up in a tournament in Palermo, Italy, last week.
