Chicago boxer dies in first title fight

DETROIT, July 25 (UPI) -- Curtis Granderson's two-out RBI double in the ninth and Carlos Guillen's RBI single in the 10th Saturday led Detroit to a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Guillen drove in two runs for the Tigers. Miguel Cabrera also drove in a run in the win.
Fernando Rodney (1-2) earned the victory after pitching a scoreless 10th inning.
Detroit's Edwin Jackson gave up three runs on eight hits in seven innings.
Chicago's Gavin Floyd allowed two runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
A.J. Pierzynski was 4-for-5 with a solo homer for the White Sox, who have won only three of their last eight games. Scott Podsednik and Gordon Beckham each had an RBI in the loss.
The losing pitcher was D.J. Carrasco (3-1).
