KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 24 (UPI) -- The Texas Rangers announced Friday that pitcher Vicente Padilla has been diagnosed with H1N1, widely known as swine flu.

Padilla, however, is expected to make his next scheduled start Tuesday against Detroit. He was scratched from his Wednesday start against Boston.

The team announced at the time that Padilla was suffering from flu-like symptoms. He joined his teammates Friday for the start of a series against Kansas City, but remained in the team hotel for the series opener.

The Rangers said they were testing other players to see if the virus has spread. Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia did not start Friday's game. He, too, complained of flu-like symptoms, but it was not immediately known if it was same type suffered by Padilla.

The team also announced that pitcher Matt Harrison is suffering from a pinched nerve in his left shoulder and will likely miss the rest of the season. Harrison may have surgery as early as Monday to relieve the condition.
