She advanced to Friday's quarterfinals against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, who was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Nuria Llagostera Vives in her Thursday match.

Third-seeded Sybille Bammer, who won a tournament last week in the Czech Republic, and No. 4-seeded Iveta Benesova failed to make the Gastein semifinals. Bammer was topped 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 by Ioana Raluca Olaru. Benesova lost the first set 6-1 and retired with a left thigh injury, allowing Andrea Petkovic to reach the quarters.

Olaru drew No. 6-seeded Magdalena Rybarikova for Friday's quarterfinals while Petkovic plays seventh-seeded Anna-Lena Groenefeld. The fourth match Friday has Yvonne Meusberger going against Yaroslava Shvedova.
