MLB: Oakland 16, Minnesota 1

OAKLAND, Calif., July 22 (UPI) -- Rajai Davis had two hits and four RBI Wednesday, propelling Oakland's 16-1 rout of the Minnesota Twins.

The 16 runs were a single-game high for the Athletics this season.

They scored 12 of the game's first 13 runs, thanks to outbursts of five in the first inning and seven in the second.

Scott Hairston had three hits -- one a three-run homer.

Matt Holliday had three hits and one RBI.

Orlando Cabrera had two hits and two RBI.

Kurt Suzuki hit a two-run single, while Mark Ellis added one RBI for the Athletics, who won twice in the three-game series.

Winner Trevor Cahill (6-8) surrendered a run and six hits in seven innings.

Minnesota's run scored on Justin Morneau's first-inning homer.

Denard Span had two of the six hits for the Twins, who have lost three of four.

The losing pitcher was starter Glen Perkins (5-6).
