MEMPHIS, July 21 (UPI) -- Former Memphis Grizzly Antonio Burks was in critical condition Tuesday after being shot by robbers during a South Memphis craps game, police said.

Burks, 29, was hit in the stomach Monday evening and taken to a hospital by a passerby.

Police said another man was also shot in the stomach during the stick-up that occurred in the back yard of a home. One of the dice players was robbed of more than $3,000, authorities said.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal said Burks was among the spectators at the game when three gunmen approached them and began shooting.

Burks, a Memphis native who played college basketball for the Memphis Tigers, played a couple of seasons in the NBA for the hometown Grizzlies as well as for Orlando and Miami. He also played in Europe.
