NEW YORK, July 20 (UPI) -- Hideki Matsui hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth Monday to give the New York Yankees a 2-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
It was the third straight game the Yankees have won by 2-1. It was Matsui's second-career walk-off homer and New York's ninth walk-off victory this season.
The Yankees had just four hits -- none after Eric Hinske homered to start the second inning -- when Matsui drove a 2-2 pitch by Jim Johnson (3-4) over the wall in right field.
Alfredo Aceves (6-1) retired the final two batters in the top of the ninth to get the victory.
Nick Markakis homered to right-center field with one out in the opening inning for the Orioles, who lost for the third time in four games.
New York starter Andy Pettitte gave up one run and six hits in 7 1/3 innings.
Orioles' starter David Hernandez went six innings, allowing one run on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
