Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

WASHINGTON, July 19 (UPI) -- Rookie Jake Fox slugged a three-run home run, drove in four runs and scored twice for the Chicago Cubs Sunday in an 11-3 blitz of the Washington Nationals.
Alfonso Soriano contributed a two-run homer for the Cubs, who scored seven runs in the fourth inning en route to their sixth win in seven games.
The big fourth included Soriano's shot and RBI hits by pitcher Kevin Hart, Kosuke Fukudome, Fox and Derrek Lee.
Adam Dunn homered for the Nationals, who have lost 10 of 11.
Hart (1-1), the winner, yielded two runs and five hits in five innings.
Loser Garrett Mock (0-3) was battered for seven runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.
