ATLANTA, July 19 (UPI) -- Javier Vazquez allowed a run and six hits in seven innings Sunday, leading the Atlanta Braves to a 7-1 rout of the New York Mets.

Vazquez (7-7) walked just one batter and his five strikeouts increased his season total to 141, 18 fewer than National League leader Tim Lincecum of San Francisco.

Yunel Escobar had three hits -- one a solo homer -- and four RBI. Chipper Jones, Casey Kotchman and Martin Prado all had one RBI, while Garret Anderson added two hits for the Braves, who won three times in the four-game series.

New York's run scored on a third-inning single by former Brave Jeff Francoeur. Luis Castillo had two of the six hits for the Mets, who have lost nine of 12.

The losing pitcher was reliever Tim Redding (1-4). Starter Fernando Nieve left in the second with a muscle strain.
