SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS BEAT SAN DIEGO PADRES

SAN FRANCISCO, July 19 (UPI) -- San Francisco Giants majority owner Sue Burns has died of cancer, the team announced Sunday. She was 58.

"The Giants are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague Sue Burns," Giants Chief Executive Officer Bill Neukom said.

"Sue was a remarkable mother, grandmother and friend whose loving and nurturing spirit touched everyone in the Giants family. Her unwavering loyalty to her beloved orange and black could be felt throughout the entire organization."

Burns was the team's senior general partner.

A team announcement said Burns died late Saturday and is survived by two daughters.

Burns was the widow of Harmon Burns, who was part of an investor group that purchased the team in 1992.
